An ultrasound technician can work in a variety of places but will most commonly end up in a hospital. At the hospital, you can choose to work in the operating room, trauma, critical care, CT scanning, MRI, fluoroscopy and angiography. The work itself, is not stressful but you may end up working long hours, especially if you are in trauma or the critical care where you will be needed most. The good news is that there is a constant need for ultrasound techs so will have no problem finding employment.
It is very important to develop your interpersonal skills as you will be working with coworkers and patients. Patients and staff alike are prone to stress either by their condition or being over-worked. It can be very hard to keep a cool head sometimes. If you feel that you need work in this area take some team building or interpersonal training courses. It will go along way to helping you coup when in pressure situations.
